What an amazing Spring this has been.  Some of the old timers are saying it is the wettest May they have seen in 24 years….wow!  I knew it was raining an awful lot, but that is really amazing.  I know I haven’t seen it this “green” since we have lived here….and this is really good news considering the devastation of the wild fire in 2011.  All of the land around here was parched from one of the worst wild fires in the history of our state and for the past few years we have had nothing but unsightly brown bare sticks emerging from the dry ground and now beginning to fall.  But now, new life is springing up everywhere and my soul just wants to sing!  🙂

With all of this new growth also comes new little critters, which bring the snakes and other wild animals, so this has been an interesting Spring in that regard as well.  First snakes we have seen since the wildfire have made their appearance and they want to make me scream!  LOL  I am truly a country girl at heart (even though I have lived in big cities most of my life) but I will NEVER get used to the snakes….I really enjoyed thinking they all burned up with the fire, but alas….back to wearing my snake boots in the Spring.

My poms are really enjoying the pleasant weather too.  By now in Texas it is usually unbearably hot & humid, but we are loving the cooler, wetter weather.  Doesn’t do much for the “hair do’s” but…well, you can’t have it all, right?!

For some reason all my girls were delayed in their cycles this Spring…could it be the weather? LOL  I don’t know, but I feared they would all come in at the same time and sure enough they did!!  So…..we are going to have a very fruitful and busy summer.  We have several litters due beginning in late June/early July.  I do have a waiting list started, but we should have plenty of pups with lots of colors to choose from and we even have some new moms in the mix which always get us excited as we anticipate what colors we might get.

Well it is a lazy, grey, rainy Sunday afternoon and although all of our little poms have the option to stay indoors (they have a doggy door), they prefer to be out in the rain just like my kids used to.  I am watching them as they run and wrestle in the wet grass and they all look like strange creatures from outer space with wet dirty hair dangling down their sides…yuck!  But they are having fun!  Once they have been indoors for an hour or so, they will return to the beautiful poms I know….all of the “dirt” will be left on the floor for me to pick up but they will be pretty again….it is a phenomenon I don’t quite understand, but hey, a lot easier to get out the broom than to wash all the pups!  🙂

Spring is just around the corner….and most of you know that is my favorite time of the year….I love seeing life spring up everywhere.

Only in Texas can you be in shorts and getting a sunburn the same week you are wearing your long johns and it is snowing outside….never a dull moment here!  There are so many areas of the country in deep freeze right now and scary, awful weather….our prayers go out to you all…but here in Texas it is freezing and snowing too, but well….even though there are two hour delays in the morning, the sunshine will be out later today and all will be forgotten!

Our little poms are so confused too….the butteflies and bees were just out earlier this week and now…snow? really?  We are all snuggled in and enjoying the last of the winter.  As soon as this blows through I am certain life will be springing up everywhere!  My favorite time of the year….and so busy!

Wow….I really can’t believe it is 2015.  2014 was just a blur….we married a son and welcomed a new grand baby into our family this year from my daughter….our family is growing! And we are expecting our fourth grand baby in just 8 days from another of my sons…whew!  Starting the year off running!

Our pom family is growing too….I have kept back some extra girls this year and we are excited about adding them to our family.  We are also looking forward to a new little stud arriving shortly after the first of the year.  He is a gorgeous white boy and will be a great addition as our beautiful boy Taz is getting up in age.

I hope today finds all of you ushering in a New Year with new hope, new gratitude and new dreams…may it be a year filled with blessings beyond your imaginations!
