Right on time! Leila gave birth this morning to SIX absolutely gorgeous little babies. She has 4 (3 girls and 1 boy) magnificent white/cream babies, 1 solid chocolate little boy, and a stunning little chocolate merle baby girl. What a surprise! Last litter she gave birth to one white, one black, and two wolf sables. We were expecting a similar litter this time, but wow were we surprised! This is one of the reasons I love pomeranians….you never really know what to expect!
They are all strong and healthy and vigorously nursing, but we have to watch carefully and make sure Leila has enough milk to feed this many…this is quite a large litter for her so we are keeping a close eye on them. We will post pictures in a few days…I like to leave Mom and the babies alone as much as possible the first few days while they bond and rest from the birth. Mom did fantastic and is guarding her little babies like a very special treasure.
LEILA’S BABIES ARE HERE!
A BRAND NEW YEAR
January 4, 2008
Wow! I haven’t written 2008 too many times before….the years seem to be flying by!
I hope everyone had a great holiday and made lots of New Year’s Resolutions. Mine seem to be the same every year!
Our sweet Leila is as big as a house and about to pop. She is not due until next week, but I’m not sure she’ll make it that long!
Her temp has not dropped yet, but she is showing all of the pre-labor signs like rooting, panting, etc. She will not leave my side, which always lets me know she is close. I will keep you all posted as soon as they arrive. I have had so many inquiries on this litter. Please be sure to email me and let me know if you want me to send out photos and updates when our new litters arrive this year. If you are looking for a specific pom, please remember that I always allow those who have sent in a deposit the first choice of the litter and on a first-come basis after that.
We are expecting to have a beautiful litter of sables from Emma in February (due on Valentines Day!) and I will keep you posted on her litter as well.
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR
December 22, 2007
Well, more than likely this will be my last entry for this year. Things are piling up and everyone is getting ready for Christmas.
What a beautiful time of year it is as we are reminded of the birth of our Savior.
Christmas is an interesting time….this is a very difficult time of year for many people. It can be a time filled with loneliness, fear, and doubt… I pray that we all find an opportunity to give a friendly gesture, or a random act of kindness to those who cross our paths. Giving a little piece of ourselves to someone else is the greatest gift we can give, or receive, for that matter. May you all be filled with love, joy and peace…a peace which surpasses all understanding….see you next year!
LOVE LOST AND LOVE GAINED
November 30, 2007
Well, our last little girl from our current litters will soon be in her new forever home. These little precious creatures are so full of life and vigor and are such little bundles of love. They are always so happy to see you and always want so badly to be picked up and held…how can you resist?! It is always hard to see them go, but we have been very blessed with the wonderful people who have chosen to adopt our precious little furballs.
There is a big commitment associated with the adoption of a new puppy. It is much like bringing a newborn baby into your family. They need lots of attention, supervision and training for the first few months. But, to the degree that you are consistent and loving in your training, they will bless you a hundred fold with a lifetime of unconditional love and companionship. Poms are notorious for their love of people and other animals and their desire to be completely tuned in to your every whim. They are very playful and implish little creatures, but their heaven on earth is to be cuddled up in your lap or as tightly next to you as they can squeeze. How can you have just one?!….
