I have never really quite understood that expression until now. With the forests burned all around us it has been stark and colorless for the last few weeks….completely lifeless actually. A very fierce contrast to the thick, lush green that has always been. However,
God’s creations cannot be stilled….already there are wild tulips and beautiful little wildflowers emerging up out of the ashes…incredible sight to see. The birds and butterflies are beginning to return (maybe just looking for their old stomping grounds!) and life is slowly detectable again amidst the fallen trees and the layers of ash.
A reminder to me that life never stands still. There is always something beautiful to see with a little patience and a watchful eye.
The spirit of our little pups reflects this strong sense of survival. These current litters have been so flexible! They survived the fire with us, they have made do in different surroundings and now they are all getting ready to leave us….I hate to see them go in some ways….we have been through so much together! 🙂
But they are all finding wonderful homes, which is always my quest.
They are so irresistible at this age and so soft and sweet.
I am in the process of updating and posting my newest litter which was born while we were staying at my son’s house…..they are all just precious. Hope to have them all posted by the end of the week.
Feel free to call or email anytime in the meantime if you want pics before then.
OUT OF THE ASHES
FALL IS HERE
October 17, 2011
It has been such a different and unusual year…..first the heat, then the drought, and then the fire!
But this week (tomorrow actually) we may have our first taste of Fall!
I know….those of you up east and even northwest think I’m crazy, but I felt a coolness in the air tonight that just gave me chills (no pun intented!) LOL I was so excited to feel that change in air…..it reminds me that seasons pass and I am glad to have this last one beind us.
All of our pups feel it too……they are suddenly very frisky and so happy too that there is that coolness in the air. They seem to have so much energy and new vigor. Everyone, even the lazy ones, are running and playing. I love to watch them.
Our litle Fall babies are getting irresistibly cute…..so huggable.
They are beginning to know and respond to my voice and they get so excited when I walk by them. They beg to be picked up and of course, since they are irresistible and I am a softee, they get picked up nearly every time.
Some will be going home this next week and some are just getting old enough to be going home. We still have some adorable little guys who will make the sweetest companions.
We have a couple of new litters as well and I am still behind on everything, but I will be posting them soon as well.
Hope you are all enjoying some taste of Fall….it is such a beautiful season……
HOME SWEET HOME
October 2, 2011
We are home! We are back home and so glad to be getting back to some normalcy. It has been exactly 28 days since we fled the wildfires in Bastrop. Over 1600 homes were destroyed, and although our home was spared, the fire ravaged through our area and so much was destroyed.
We are beginning the process of cleaning up over 1000 trees on just our property lost to the fire and getting fences back up for our pups.
They all seem to be glad to be home as well, even though a faint scent of smoke is still in the air.
We have three litters of the cutest pups ever who are getting big now and will be ready for new homes soon! I am SO behind on updating my site, but I am dedicated to working on that this week. We also have a brand new litter of five very adorable little cuties whom I will also try to post sometime this week. I hope to have new pictures of all of our babies up by the end of the week!
Thanks again to so many of you who have kept up with us and sent us encouraging emails or notes. You will never know how much I appreciate it….it truly kept our spirits up.
AMAZING LOVE
September 15, 2011
So many of you have been asking about our pups, so I just thought I would let everyone know how amazing they are and how awesome so many friends and family have been.
Since we moved in temporarily with one of my sons and his wife and new granddbaby, we really needed to have some help with some of our dogs. We brought them all with us, including three brand new litters of pups.
Before we could even ask for it, we had so many offers to help with our beloved poms and we knew we had to take them up on it. So….about half of our poms have been placed temporarily with some very special families and we are grateful beyond words for their love and care.
It was a bit rough at first, as we were all disoriented a bit by the displacement and several of my poms were a little scared and confused. But after a week, all reports are coming in that they have “settled” in to new routines and are all being spoiled beyond belief. Nothing has made me feel better than knowing they are all doing so well.
All of the new moms and babies are here with me and we are all getting used to new routines too.
We have all settled in, including Dani, who is due to deliver this upcoming week.
We are supposed to have electricity back at our house by the 7th of October, so we will be displaced for another few weeks.
Every day is a new experience but we are embracing it with gusto!
We are so grateful for all the love and support….
