Little Johnny

October 17, 2012
Only little “Johnny” is left from our current litters. He is a super sweet and very energetic little black boy with little white paws and some white on his chest. Gorgeous coat coming in and such a lover…I will be updating his photos this week. I can send a short video to anyone seriously interested in him.

Blossom and Rikki are due in just about 2 weeks and are really starting to get big tummies. We will be keeping a close eye on them these next 2 weeks. Rikki is a first time mama and we are so excited about seeing what she will have. I know she will be a great mom!

HAPPY FALL

October 15, 2012
Those of you in the more northern areas of our country will no doubt find this amusing, but here in Texas, we appreciate every tidbit of color in the Fall. We have had some very nice and welcoming rains this month which have given rise to some gorgeous sunsets and some glimpses of Fall foliage (if you can call it that in Texas!) At least the leaves are tinged in color ….better than going from green to brown and then gone..LOL

Our pomeranians LOVE this time of year, as do we. The crispness in the air….the nice cool breeze…..sometimes a relief from the humiditiy….all makes for a relaxing swing watching the sunset. If we didn’t have to worry about the mosquitos giving us West Nile….well it would be almost perfect.

I love watching the Poms romping and really running and playing. No more lounging around trying to survive the heat…it’s more like “the game is ON….” I don’t think Pomeranians know how to play football, but it sure is entertaining watching them “team up” and run with the ball! LOL They are hysterical and always make us laugh with their antics. There is always one lurking in the background….waiting for the two toughest ones to make their moves and when they do, there is a sneak attack and “mission accomplished”… Suddenly the two challenging one another for the ball stop dead in their tracks…look around….”where is the ball?” Hilarious….

I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful Fall season as we gear up for the Holidays. We only have a couple of babies left who are ready for their “forever” homes (see “available puppies page”) but we have a couple of litters due to be born around the end of October. As always, it is hard to see my babies go, but always fun to begin preparing for new litters. I have two brand new mamas who will give birth in November so we are filled with anticipation about what they will have and how they will do.
I will be updating the “upcoming litters” page very soon. If you are interesting in getting a “first glimpse” at my new litters and are not on my “updates/notification” list, just send me an email and I will be happy to add you to it.
Happy Fall to everyone! 🙂

SO GRATEFUL

Sept. 8, 2012
It is so difficult to believe that a whole year has gone by since the horrific wildfire we experienced one year ago. My husband and I had just gotten all the dogs settled in, and we were headed off to a “date” night in town. Before we could leave, we got a call from a dear friend working at the Hospital in Austin who warned us that there was fire headed our way….
We were lucky enough to have time to load up all of our dogs, including 3 brand new litters, and head to my son’s house in Austin, where as it ended up, we would stay for a full 30 days.
Our home survived the fire, but burned the majority of our 11 acres. Every house surrounding us was burned to the ground, except one that was only partially burned. Seventeen hundred homes were completely destroyed, and overnight, one of the most beautiful pine forests in our state was turned to prairie land….it is hard to imagine without actually seeing it.
Things have changed forever, and our path has changed course, but we are so grateful for so many things. Hard circumstances have a way of making you appreciate people and things that once were taken for granted. Hard circumstances give rise to the kindness and generosity of so many others….it is sometimes overwhelming. Hard circumstances always change your perspective, but it is up to us to choose to find the good. We have so many new things to experience now.
It has been a hard year, but a good one. And we are looking forward to this next year with great hope and anticipation.
Thanks so much to all of you who supported us this past year in so many different ways. Our hearts are filled with love and gratitude…..

SO HARD TO LOSE ONE

Sept. 6, 2012
It is with a heavy hard that I have to let you know that we lost our tiny little girl from BB’s litter last night. She was such a fighter and we were so hopeful that she would make it. She was actually gaining weight and I even counted her in my litter registration yesterday as I was so certain that she was doing great. However, she took a downward turn yesterday afternoon and quit nursing all together….something was obviously wrong.
We have not had many born at her weight actually survive, but we were really hopeful with her. We have spent many hours together this past week with supplemental feedings and extra love, but it was not meant to be. We will miss her.
